Getting married is not as easy as just turning up in the right place at the right time! Planning a wedding is a big job and many important details and considerations go into making the big day flow smoothly.

Planners have a lot of experience and can often come up with innovative ways to create the day you want for the amount you want to spend. It can also be helpful to have an outsider’s perspective.
Once the budget is set, the next step is to set the date. Important factors to consider include work schedules, holidays, other family occasions and your preferred day of the week. You will probably want to confer with your closest family and friends at this point. Also, don’t forget to consider your honeymoon. The guest list
Once you have set the date it’s time to think about your guest list. You will need to have an idea of numbers before you look at venues and catering options and there can be quite a balancing act as you choose the details of your day, the number of guests and your budget.

- the groom’s list;
- the couple’s joint friends;

Once you have settled on a venue for the ceremony you need to think about the reception and catering, including a venue, any entertainment, the food, and the wedding cake. This can be pretty much anything the bride and the groom want – as long as it fits the budget!
Setting the mood of the wedding
The music, flowers and other decorations will set the mood of the wedding. Like the invitations, these things should match together to express the style and theme of the wedding. The same with the wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, and the groom’s, best man’s and ushers’ attire – these can all reflect the theme or colour scheme.
Wedding photography and videos
Don’t forget photographs and videos because they will immortalize this memorable and valuable once-in-a-lifetime moment. Some wedding planners suggest taking the formal shots a week before the wedding to avoid stress but a lot of people like more relaxed, informal photographs nowadays.
